Faith Storms to Victory, Wins Inaugural Pat Duer Trophy
(Ankeny, IA) - Faith women's basketball faced Emmaus in the inaugural "Pat Duer Victory Trophy" game, the third sport to have a rivalry trophy introduced between the two teams.
Faith came out fast, outscoring their opponent 18-1 in the first five minutes of the game.
The Eagles however, allowed Emmaus to settle into the game and for the next 15 minutes, the teams played close to evenly leading into halftime. Although Faith struggled to connect on shots, shooting just 36% from the floor, they took care of business in the second half, leading by as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter, and charged to the 82-61 victory over the Eagles from Emmaus University.
Miriam Beenken stuffed the stat sheet as she recorded 13 points, 19 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Tshiya Keepers stole the ball a career high 8 times, and all five starters scored double-digits to pace the Eagles in the win.
With the victory, Faith won the inaugural "Pat Duer Trophy", the third traveling trophy introduced between the two Iowa schools.
