Eagles Pick Up Third Conference Win in Electric Atmosphere
The Eagles were at home this past Friday as they faced the Saints from Central Christian College of the Bible.
Ankeny, IA - The game was part of the Eagles' annual Midwest Invitational High School Tournament, so the stands were packed for what would prove to be an exciting game!
The game started well for the Eagles as they jumped out to a 14-8 lead at the 10-minute mark with a 3-pointer from Desmond Conway. Both teams, but especially the Eagles, had a strong defensive half as neither team scored many 1st half-points. Nonetheless, the Eagles were able to score enough to go into halftime with a 32-28 lead.
The offense opened up for both teams during the second half. The score stayed close within the first ten minutes of the 2nd half as the Eagles barely held on to a 51-48 lead. In the final 8 minutes of the half, the Eagles began to take control of the game and pull away as their lead ballooned to 10 with 2 minutes to play. In the end, the Eagles were able to win the game comfortably 89-78.
This was the Eagles' most cohesive and collective victory of the season both on the offense and defensive ends. The Eagles defense forced the Saints into 18 turnovers and on the offensive side, the Eagles had 5 players in double figures.
This win extends the Eagles win streak to 2 and puts their record at 5-9 (3-3 in MCCC play). The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they go on the road to face the Warriors from Union College in Lincoln, NE, on Monday at 6 pm CST.
