Eagles Fall in Final Seconds
Faith held a lead for much of the game, but ultimately came up just short against Kuyper College on Saturday.
Ankeny, IA - On Saturday, the Eagles were at home facing the Cougars from Kuyper College on the 2nd day of the Faith Classic. The Eagles were looking to bounce back from the loss the night before to Trinity Bible College.
The 1st half started out with a bang for the Eagles as they jumped out to an 11-1 lead with a 3-pointer from Jared Pearson. The Cougars responded and knotted the score at 14-14. Both teams exchanged blows as the half went on but the Eagles were able to take the lead going into halftime 46-41.
The 2nd half was just as exciting as the 1st half. Both teams battled back and forth and exchanged leads for the 1st 10 minutes. In the final 10 minutes, other than 1 time, the Eagles maintained a small lead. It was not until the 2-minute mark that Cougars took the lead again. The Eagles had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but the Cougars guarded it well as Desmond Conway's last-second 3-point attempt fell short. The Cougars won 84-81 handing the Eagles their second loss of the season.
Jared Pearson led the Eagles with 17 points. Desmond Conway and Parker Lundberg added 14 points and 12 points. This loss drops the Eagles to 2-2 heading into Thanksgiving break. They will be back in action on December 1st, at Emmaus Bible College as they will again face the Cougars from Kuyper College at 4pm CST.
