Eagles Fall to Trinity Bible
Faith dropped their opening game of the Faith Classic this past Friday.
Ankeny, IA - The Eagles hosted their annual Faith Classic this past weekend with visiting Kuyper College, Central Christian College of the Bible, and Trinity Bible College. The Eagles faced the Lions from Trinity Bible College in their first matchup fo the weekend. This was the Eagles' 1st home game of the 2023-2024 season after they grabbed two wins at the Free Lutheran Classic the weekend before.
The Lions came into the game on their own win streak and quickly jumped out to a 13-6 lead with 3 made free throws by Quincy Wilson. The Eagles responded with a run of their own as they tied the game 15-15 with a jump shot by Desmond Conway. The Lions responded with another run of their own as they went into halftime leading 44-32 with the help of a 3-pointer from Damien Walters Jr. with only seconds remaining in the half.
The Lions were the more experienced team, which showed as they started out the 2nd half hot and built their lead all the way to 19 points with a made jump shot from Marcellus Mencarini at the 15-minute mark. However, the young Eagles team was not done yet and showed a lot of fight as they battled back and cut the lead to 5 with 7 minutes left. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the 19-point deficit was too much to overcome and the Lions came away with the victory 90-77, handing them their 1st loss of the season.
Jared Pearson led all scorers with 15 points and freshman Parker Lundberg chipped in 12 points. With this loss, the Eagles record falls to 2-1.
