
Eagles Take Crown to Five Sets
(Minneapolis, MN) - Women's Volleyball showed much improvement against Crown College after a quick turnaround from Friday's games.
Although Faith came into Saturday with not much time to recover from the previous games the Eagles showed energy and heart, pushing the match to five sets before ultimately falling to the Polars in the North Region match with set scores of 25-20, 14-25, 21-25, 25-23, 11-15.
Faith pulled out a gritty win in the first set, jumping ahead early and keeping the lead all the way through. While the Eagles struggled in the second set, they made a push and tied the third 21-21 before Crown scored 4 quick points for a 2-1 lead in the match. Faith, however would not step down and won the fourth set to keep the match alive, but Crown would ultimately come out with the 3-2 victory.
Codie Wirges had an impressive performance, leading the team with 13 kills and 28 digs, while Emma Owens and Belle Wirges added 8 kills each for the Eagles. Victoria Nerem continued to impress with a career high 25 assists, and Maddie Hofmann recorded a career high 33 digs. The Eagles went 2-1 over the weekend against tough opponents, and will look to bring this experience into a busy 5-match week coming up.
