ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles women's soccer team took care of business with their first home match of the season on Saturday, outpacing Lincoln Christian University by the score of 4-0.
Faith dominated possession of the ball the entire 90 minutes, outshooting Lincoln 19-1. The Eagles first score came three minutes into the game off the foot of freshman Alison Lundberg, with her first collegiate goal. Fellow freshman Brenna Penrod answered a minute later with her first collegiate goal to give the Eagles a lightning-fast lead of 2-0 in the first five minutes. Abigail Speichinger scored her second goal of the year shortly before halftime to stretch the lead to 3-0.
After a mostly scoreless second half, Faith struck for its fourth goal of the game when Allison Yuan punched in her first score of the year to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead, which held through the final buzzer.
With the win, the Eagles moved to 1-0-1 on the year. The women will be forced to heal and rest quickly with a long road trip to the Minneapolis area on Tuesday with a game against Crown College at 3:30 p.m. The Storm are 1-1, coming off an 8-1 loss to Viterbo.
