Quick Start Pushes Knights Past the Eagles
(Gladstone, MO) - Faith men's basketball took the court Tuesday for a rematch against Spurgeon.
The Eagles were on the road Tuesday as they faced a non conference foe, the Knights from Spurgeon College in Kansas City. Due to an incoming winter storm, the game was moved up to 5pm.
The Eagles started a different lineup in the 1st half since they have two important conference matchups over the weekend. This greatly impacted the final score since their regular rotation played limited minutes. The Knights jumped out to a hot start as they led 11-0 thanks to a layup from Jack Chamberlin. The Eagles stayed within striking distance for the 1st 10 minutes of the half, but in the final few minutes of the half the Knights extended their lead to 20. Going into the half, the Knights held a commanding 48-28 lead.
The 2nd half was much like the 1st. The Knights slowly extended their lead and the Eagles continued to go deeper into their bench as did the Knights. The Eagles held the Knights to 8 points in the final 6:45 but it was not enough to overcome the large deficit. In the end, the Knights cruised to a 98-65 victory.
The leading scorers for Faith were Josh Baucum with 15 points and Mason Gorsh with 12 points. This loss drops the Eagles to 11-13 on the season (5-5 in MCCC play). The Eagles next games have post season implications as they take on the Bears from Barclay College and the Thunder from Manhattan Christian College as they fight for final seeds going into the conference tournament next week.
