2021 Men's Soccer Season Review
After struggling through a three win 2020 season severely affected by COVID issues, the Eagle men's soccer team rebounded with a 10 win 2021 campaign which saw them finish the season as the MCCC regular season and tournament runner up and earn the top seed in the NCCAA regional tournament.
The Eagles jumped out of the gates fast, starting the season with a 4-0 win streak. The Eagles then hit a bump in the road, dropping their next three contests before righting the ship with five wins in their final six games, their only loss a close 1-0 decision to nationally ranked Manhattan Christian College. The Eagle's overall regular season record was 8-5-0.
The men entered the MCCC tournament as the #2 seed and defeated Calvary University 2-1 in the semifinals. Facing Manhattan Christian for the second time in as many weeks, the Eagles couldn't match the Thunder's firepower, falling 0-4 in the championship game. Joseph Conable, Josh Forgie, and Moses Amani were all selected to the MCCC All Conference Second Team. Jacob Stilwell, Noah Zollinger, James Busenitz, and Solo Sien were all MCCC All Conference First Team selections.
The Eagles entered the NCCAA regional tournament as the overall #1 seed, but their hopes of a trip to the national championship in Florida were upset by #5 seed Crown College 1-3 in the regional semi-final. Noah Zollinger, Jacob Stilwell, and Moses Amani were all selected to the NCCAA II North Region Honorable Mention team. James Busentiz and Solo Sein were NCCAA II North Region First Team selections, with Sein also receiving the NCCAA II North Region Player of the Year Award and was an NCCAA II All American Second Team selection. Jon Crossman, Caleb Love, Carson Odle, and Noah Zollinger were all recognized for their work off the field as NCCAA Scholar Athletes.
The Eagles return a strong core, and are excited to build on their success in the 2021 season as they look to the 2022 season.
