MANHATTAN, Kansas—The Faith Eagles men's soccer team split a weekend road trip to Kansas this weekend, beating Barclay College 7-0 on Friday night, and losing 6-0 at Manhattan Christian College on Saturday. The ninth-ranked Eagles are now 4-1 on the season.
The seven-goal outburst on Friday came on the heels of an 11-goal performance last Tuesday, giving the team 18 goals in a two-game span. All of the scoring at Barclay came without leading scorer Solo Sein, who was unable to make the trip on Friday evening. Six different players got in on the scoring for the Eagles, led by Josh Forgie's two goals. He was joined in the scoring column by James Busenitz, Cesar Gutierrez, Joe Conable, Carson Odle, and Joel Neumann.
Sein rejoined the team for Saturday's matchup against #7 Manhattan Christian College, but the Thunder were too much for the Eagles' defense as Faith surrendered a season-high six goals on a consistent barrage of shots throughout the 90 minutes. Manhattan registered 27 shots compared to five for the Eagles. The Thunder attacked early and often, scoring twice in the game's first two minutes, and six times before the end of the first half.
The men get a few days to rest this week before Maranatha Baptist University (0-4) comes to town for Senior Day on Saturday, September 25. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
