The Faith Lady Eagles took on North Central University in Minneapolis, MN this past weekend. The Lady Eagles came out intense trying to improve their region record to 2-1. The Lady Rams opened the first five minutes of the game with an 11-3 run, but the Lady Eagles would respond with a run of their own and took the lead 17-15 at the nine minute mark in the first half. Senior Kelsey Grider was a big part of the run coming off the bench and shooting 4-6 in the first half for 8 points. North Central would go on an 11-5 run though to close the half putting the Lady Eagles down 6 (28-22) at halftime.
The second half was not played as closely. The Lady Rams came out and really slowed up Faith's offense. Despite the offensive struggles Faith was only down 7 with four minutes to play until North Central went on a 12-0 run to close the game (55-36) giving the Lady Eagles their fifth loss of the season. Laura Garwick had her fourth double-double of the year with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kelsey Grider had 10 points and 7 rebounds, while Holly Shepard chipped in 7 points and 5 rebounds.
Saturday's matchup for the Lady Eagles was against AFLBS in Plymouth, MN. Both teams started out of the gates slow as the first field goal did not come until four minutes into the game. The Lady Eagles were able to take the lead with a big 23-7 run in the middle of the first half. The Lady Eagles shot the ball well in the first half going 4-9 from three point range, and 6-8 on their free throws. AFLBS hung in there though and went on an 8-0 run to close the first half giving the Lady Eagles only a 9 point advantage (28-19).
The second half was a different story for Faith as their shooting went cold. Faith shot only 6-28 from the field, and went 4-9 at the charity stripe. AFLBS took the lead at the nine minute mark and Faith was not able to recover. Faith fell to AFLBS 51-45, making their record 3-6 going into Christmas break.
