Women's Basketball Season Preview
The Faith Lady Eagle's basketball team is excited to get the 2014-2015 season started. The Lady Eagle's will be returning four players from last year's team, and have four freshmen coming in to make up the rest of the team. The Lady Eagle's team will be small with only eight players on the roster, but will have a better mix of guards and posts than last year's team.
Returners Kelsey Grider (Sr.) and Ashley Pearson (Jr.) will provide the inside presence as they have done in previous years. Last year's team leading scorer Laura Garwick (So.) is also back and will continue to be a versatile inside out. The fourth returner, Hannah Nichols (Jr.), will continue to play wing and be a key defensive player on the team. The four incoming freshmen are all guards which the Lady Eagle's team will greatly need. All of them will contribute in the areas of defense, ball control, and shooting. The freshmen know that the returning four players provide a good inside presence, and are looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the team's outside needs.
The Lady Eagle's will open up their season with three games next week. Union College will be the first opponent in an away match-up next Tuesday. That weekend the Lady Eagle's will have their home openers against Barclay College on Friday night, and Manhattan Christian College on Saturday afternoon. All three games will be tough, but the Lady Eagles will be ready for the challenge.
