Tuesday, September 18th, the Eagles men's soccer team traveled to Dubuque, IA, to take on Emmaus Bible College in an attempt to rebound from a three game losing streak. The game started with Faith dominating possession but failing to capitalize until midway through the half when defender Aaron Jones scored off a shot from 25 yards. The rest of the half was dominated by the Eagles, but the score remained 1-0.
The second half started with good possession by the Eagles, but very few good scoring chances. Faith was able to score a second goal off a penalty kick by freshman Adam Jones. After the second goal the Eagles began to coast as their scoring chances were few and far between while Emmaus was able to begin mounting attacks. Just before the final whistle Emmaus managed to capitalize on a misplayed pass to prevent the Eagles All-Region goalkeeper Michael Craig from earning the shutout.
"Anyone who saw the game would agree we did not play our best. It was nice to get a win, but with the talent we have we should have been able to create more chances and get the shutout," said Coach Backous. The Eagles face Buena Vista University this Thursday and Lincoln Christian University this Saturday, 9/22/12. The Eagles moved to 2-5 after the win.
