The Eagle's women's basketball team returned to their winning ways in the 2022-2023 season. New head coach Zak Kirkman led a solid team of returners, transfers, and newcomers to their best season since 1999. After a first semester
The Eagle's women's basketball team returned to their winning ways in the 2022-2023 season. New head coach Zak Kirkman led a solid team of returners, transfers, and newcomers to their best season since 1999. After a first semester that saw the Eagles begin to put together the pieces they needed for success, Faith came out of the gates hot to start the second semester. The Eagles won 10 of their first 11 games in January. The month was not without it's setbacks, though, as the Eagles suffered the loss of key player Makenna Laib to a knee injury.
Despite the injury to Laib and other, Faith was able to secure the #2 overall seed in the conference tournament.The tournament began with the Eagles facing off against the #6 Emmaus Bible College. Winning the game 55-36, the Eagles moved on to the semifinals to play the #3 seeded Barclay College. The game did not go the Eagle's way, ending in a loss, 71-61. The Eagles then faced Calvary University for third place, but fell to the Warriors 54-38, taking fourth in the MCCC Tournament.
Rachel Kleczka earned First Team All-Conference and Mikayla Jones earned Conference MVP and the team was recognized for their regular season runner up finish in the conference.
The Eagles entered the NCCAA North Region Tournament as the #4 overall seed and matched up against the Pilots from Providence University College in their first round game. Fighting through every fast-paced minute of the game, the Eagles found themselves victorious 71-68 and advancing to the semifinals. The Eagles faced #1 North Central University, but came up short 51-67.
Makenna Laib earned Honorable Mention, Rachel Kleczka earned 3rd Team All-Region, and Mikayla Jones earned 1st Team All-Region.
The Eagles finished their season 18-13 overall, obtaining the most wins for the women's basketball team since the 1999 season.
The team award for Most Valuable Player was given to Mikayla Jones, Most Improved Player to Whitney Wacker, and the Eagle's Award to Makenna Laib.
