Fritz and Yuan Qualify for Nationals
OTTUMWA, Iowa--It was a breezy day in Ottumwa on Friday as the Eagles cross country teams competed at the Indian Hills Invitational. The course was set on the beautiful Cedar Creek Golf Course and was in great shape.
It was an exciting race for Coach Long, as this was the first time he had enough women runners to score as a team. The women's team edged out the team from Iowa Wesleyan by 9 points for a sixth-place finish.
The women's team was led by two ladies who also compete on the Faith soccer team: Kierstan Fritz and Kristin Yuan. These ladies have been working hard to train for cross country after their soccer practices. Kierstan finished in 14th place with a time of 21:22, and Kristin completed it in 22:56. Both of those times qualify them to be able to compete at Nationals in November!
The rest of the Eagle women's squad also ran hard amid the windy conditions. Laney Jones finished in 23:55, Emily Anderson in 26:25, Rachel Franklin in 30:43, and MaryAnn Hendrickson in 32:05.
Ethan Wooten was the sole competitor for the men's team, due to injuries and a schedule conflict. He ran well, completing the 8k course in 31:17.
We are looking forward to the NCCAA North Region XC Meet this Saturday 10/23 that we are hosting on Faith's campus. The women's race starts at noon, and the men at 1:00. Please pray for nice weather and we hope to see many of our fans at the race!
