Eagles Qualify Three for Nationals
GRINNELL, Iowa--Despite the race start times being moved a half hour earlier, it was still a hot and humid day to run for the men's and women's cross country teams on Saturday. Everyone competed well and left everything on the course.
Laney Jones led the way for the women's 6k event in 30:18, followed by Emily Anderson in 32:11, and Rachel Franklin with a time of 37:59. The 6 kilometer distance is difficult to pace for, as the women typically run a 5k distance in meets.
The men ran the 8k distance for the first time this season. Josiah Brown led the way for the men in 33:11, followed by Ethan Wooten in 33:41, with Dawson Woolett close behind in 33:49. With those times, all of the men qualified to compete in the NCCAA National XC Meet in November! The team ran through the pain of a few injuries that need some rest to allow their bodies to recover.
They all ran well and are looking forward to a weekend off this week before the Grand View University meet on September 25. The Grand View meet will be held on DMACC's campus, so we hope you will all come join us just a few miles away from our campus!
