ANKENY, Iowa—In their first four games of the season, the Faith Eagles managed just two goals. In the last two games, the Eagles have scored 16, with 11 of those coming against the Manhattan Christian College Thunder in an 11-0 win on Saturday.
Ali Lundberg scored a hat trick with a career-high three goals as the Eagles were unstoppable on the offensive end, outshooting the Thunder 38-7 overall, and 25-1 in shots on goal.
The Eagles struck quickly with a goal just three minutes into the game by Abigail Speichinger. Kayla Stephens answered six minutes later. In the final 20 minutes of the half, the Eagles really poured it on with two goals from Brenna Penrod, one from Kristin Yuan, one from Abigail Farver, and one from Lundberg.
Every Eagles player saw plenty of action in the second half as Faith struck four more times for goals. Lundberg had two of them, with Demi DelPrior and Abigail Speichinger scoring the other two.
With the win, the Eagles (2-4) now have a two-game winning streak. Faith travels to Grand View University for a scrimmage on Monday, September 19. It is the only time the Eagles play this week.
