Carson’s National Title Caps Historic Season for Track and Field
For the second time in the last four years, Faith Baptist Bible College has a national champion in track and field. Tyler Carson became the latest Eagle to accomplish the feat on Friday, May 14, 2021, winning the 110 meter hurdles in convincing fashion. His performance, along with Kristin Yuan's seventh place finish in the 400 hurdles and Sierra Udd's sixth place finish in discus, completed one of the most successful seasons in Faith Eagles Track and Field history.
"Tyler Carson's win at nationals in the 110 meter hurdles was nothing short of amazing," exclaimed Coach Ryan Long. "He glides over the hurdles so effortlessly. It was a beautiful race to watch. It was fun to praise God that evening as we celebrated together!"
The last track and field performer to win a national title for the Eagles was Jacob Kirkwood, who won the discus event in 2019. The 2020 season was canceled due to the coronavirus, so Coach Long was especially thrilled with the overall results of his team after two years between competitions:
"We had a fun year as a track team, working hard in practices, some struggling with injuries or recovery from surgery, but we grew together and became a family. It is always a blessing to see the athletes push themselves to improve and give God the glory for the abilities that He gave each one. We will definitely miss our team captains, Tyler and Kristin, next year, but I am excited to have most of the track team athletes returning next year!"
