
Udd Qualifies for Nationals as Eagles Continue to Improve
PELLA, Iowa—Faith Eagles freshman Sierra Udd qualified for the NCCAA National Meet last Friday with a discus throw of 35.65m, highlighting a successful trip to Pella, Iowa, where the Eagles competed in the Central College Dutch Invitational.
Udd finished sixth in the women's discus, well ahead of throwers from larger schools. She threw shot put as well, finishing in fourth place with a throw of 9.77m. Teammate Kyla Rounds also threw discus and shot put, finishing in ninth and seventh places respectively with throws of 25.58m and 7.8m.
The men had one competitor in the throwing events as Jared Ball finished in tenth place with a throw of 35.16m in the javelin.
Despite the windy conditions, the Eagles' runners also fared well. Tyler Carson continued his fine running in the 110 hurdles, finishing in second place with a time of 15.44 seconds. Kristin Yuan had the highest place finishes for the women, finishing in third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:09.11, and also in third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.38.
Other performances by the Eagles included an eighth place finish by Ethan Wooten in the 800 meter run, a tenth place finish by Laney Jones in the 800 meter run, an eleventh place finish by Josiah Brown in the 800 meter run, and a twentieth place finish by Emily Anderson in the 1500 meter run.
The Eagles look forward to a beautiful day for running this Saturday at the Grand View Viking Invitational beginning at 11 a.m. in Des Moines.
