Crossman Scores Hat Trick on Senior Day
ANKENY, Iowa—Senior Days don't get much better than the one Jon Crossman and the Faith Eagles had on Tuesday against Union College. Crossman, the lone senior on the team, was recognized before the game for his four years of service and was rewarded with a spot in the starting lineup. He answered with the game of his life by scoring a hat trick: the first, second, and third goal of his career, all in one game. That's efficiency.
The Eagles had a great game as a whole, scoring nine times in a 9-0 shutout victory which they will use as momentum for the final stretch of the season. Seth Elliott got the scoring going early for the hometown team with a goal at the 9:21 mark in the first half. Crossman scored the first of his two goals in the first half four minutes later, with Rylee Dale punching one into the net between Crossman scores. The Eagles held a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Will Holst scored the first of his two goals in the game at the 55:46 mark. Moses Amani got in on the action two minutes later. Crossman's hat trick came at the 84:38 mark, giving the Eagles an 8-0 lead. Cesar Gutierrez scored the final goal of the game for the 9-0 victory.
Faith has just one regular season game remaining: a home game this Saturday against Emmaus Bible College at 2 p.m. in Ankeny. Emmaus is having a nice season, sitting at 5-4-2 overall with large wins over Calvary University and Ozark Christian College. Faith now sits at 6-4-2 overall. Conference tournament play begins next week in Kansas City, Missouri.
