Lady Eagles Fall Short at Grace
The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team (3-19) travelled to Grace University of Omaha, NE on Tuesday Night, February 18th. Faith lost the game 54-62.
The Lady Eagles came out red hot taking a 22-11 lead. From the start at 4-3 in favor of Faith, the Lady Eagles were able to hold the lead up until the last seconds of the first half as Grace made a free throw to tie the game at 25-25. In the last eight minutes of the first half, Faith went cold with Grace going on a 14-3 run.
In the second half, Faith regained the lead at 31-30 after Grace scored the first few baskets. However, Grace began to become the aggressor again as they took the lead. With four minutes to go in the game, Grace had built the lead to 13 points. Faith was able to hang tough, and start to chip away at that large margin. The Lady Eagles got as close to down four points with less than two minutes to go, but it was too late as Grace hit a few big shots at the end.
Faith was led in scoring by Laura Garwick with a career high 35 points, just 3 points shy of tying the all-time game scoring record at Faith. Kelsey Grider recorded 6 blocks to go along with 9 points. With that Kelsey set a new school record for blocks in a season. Kelsey has 88 blocks on the year (previous record was 83 by Meghan DeBerg). Ashley Pearson led the team in rebounds with 11.
