The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team played in the Pre-Regional Tip Off hosted by North Central University of Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 6th and 7th. On Friday, December 6th, the Lady Eagles faced Trinity Bible College of Ellendale, North Dakota. Trinity finished 7th at Nationals last year, and returned many key players from that team. Faith lost the game 29-73. On Saturday, December 7th, the lady Eagles faced Providence University College of Canada. Faith lost the game 37-82.
Trinity didn't lose much from last year's team as they took a very fast lead at 20-1 in the first 10 minutes of the game. The high pressure defense was just too much for the Lady Eagles to overcome. The second 10 minutes of the first half was better only getting out scored 16-9. In the second half Trinity shot the ball about the same as they were able to score 37 points, but Faith showed improvement almost doubling their first half score with a total of 19 second half points. Laura Garwick led Faith in scoring and rebounding with 11 points, and 7 rebounds.
On Saturday, Providence was able to do the same thing that Trinity had done the previous day, and that was take a big lead in the first half and never lose control of the game after that. Providence won the first half 40-14. Faith was able to show a little improvement offensively in the second half with a 23-42 score. Providence shot the ball very well going 8 for 11 from the 3 point line. The Lady Eagles are anxiously awaiting the return of their starting point guard Tori Odle who has missed the last three games with a concussion. Faith was led in scoring by Laura Garwick with 12 points. Carissa Grogg added a season high nine points. An exciting part of the day was Kelsey Grider with her 5th block went from second to first in the most blocks in Faith women's basketball record books. She leads the nation in block shots with 39 on the year.
The Faith women's basketball team's next game will be in Dubuque, IA on Tuesday, December 10th against Emmaus Bible College. The game will tip off at 5:00 PM.
