Lady Eagles Defeat Emmaus
The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team travelled to Dubuque, IA on Tuesday, December 10th to face Emmaus Bible College. Faith won the game 62-25. Faith is now 1-9 on the year.
The Lady Eagles were able to take a quick eight point lead to start the game with two baskets each for Laura Garwick and Ashley Pearson. Emmaus then proceeded to go on a 6-0 run to pull within two points. That would be as close as Emmaus ever got as Faith began to finish the half on a 21-9 run taking a 33-15 lead into halftime.
The second half showed Faith improving on the defensive side holding Emmaus to 10 second half points and forcing many turnovers. From the 13 minute mark, until the three minute mark, Faith's defense held strong not allowing any points scored. Laura Garwick was able to break the Faith single game record of steals with 15 which was previously held by Jenna Bean (2011-2012) with 14 steals. Faith stayed steady on the offensive side adding 29 second half points. The Lady Eagles had a season high in team rebounds with 48, a season high in team steals with 25, and a season high in team assists with 19.
Laura Garwick led the Lady Eagles with a season high 26 points. Ashley Pearson led the team in rebounds with 17 to go along with her 13 points. Laura and Ashely each also handed out five assists.
The Faith women's basketball team will finish off the first semester hosting region opponent North Central University on Saturday, December 14th. That game will tip off at 2:00 PM.
