Women's Basketball Season Outlook
The Faith women's basketball team returns five from last year's team including the single game block leader in Faith history junior Kelsey Grider. The team finished 5-19 last year, and with new freshman and another year of experience from the upperclassman, the Faith women's basketball team will look to stay competitive throughout the season. Three year starter Kelsey Grider was named a captain for this season. She is only 39 blocks away from becoming Faith's all time block leader, and will be looking to break that record this year. Kelsey will also look to improve on her seven points per game average from last year. Returning sophomore Ashley Pearson was named a captain as well. She was last year's team most improved player, and is making great strides to improve her game. Senior Carissa Grogg will be playing with the team in the first semester adding experience to the team. Sophomore's Hannah Nichols and Kellie Warne round out the returners that will be called on to help the team with their experience.
The Eagles have added five freshmen to this year's team. Tori Odle will be the new point guard for the Lady Eagles. Odle is from Ohio, and will be called upon right away to contribute to the team. Laura Garwick from Altoona, IA is a nice post addition. Laura sat out last year but is now ready to get back on the court. Anna Bishop from Michigan, Jennie Reynolds from Kansas, and Amber Schmucker from Arizona are all freshman that played basketball in high school, and are anxious to prove themselves for this year's team.
Four of the ladies play for the Eagles volleyball or women's soccer team, so they will need to make a quick turn around when those seasons are over. The remaining six players will be practicing hard until their teammates join. The team hosts Union College of Lincoln, NE on November 12 at 5:00 PM for their first contest of the regular season.
