Women Drop Semester Opener
The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team (1-11) hosted Lincoln Christian University of Lincoln, IL this past Tuesday. Faith lost the game 37-55.
Faith's Ashely Pearson hit the first shot of the game, followed by a three pointer from Hannah Nichols, giving Faith a 5-4 lead five minutes into the game. In the next five minutes of the game Lincoln Christian went on a 14-4 run to go up 10 points and that's as close as the Lady Eagles ever got. Faith lost the first half 19-39. In the second half, Faith showed improvement on the defensive end holding Lincoln Christian to 16 second half points, but was only able to score 18 of their own points. Faith was able to outrebound Lincoln Christian 31-23, which was a goal for the team as Lincoln Christian is #3 in the NCCAA D2 in rebounds. The difference in the game was Lincoln Christian shot 50% to Faith's 32%, and also Lincoln Christian took twice as many free throws as Faith and made 81% of them.
The Lady Eagles were led in scoring and rebounding by Kelsey Grider with 8 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Pearson and Kelsey Grider each had 4 assists. Laura Garwick had 4 steals.
The Lady Eagle's next game will be hosting conference opponent Central Christian College of the Bible this Saturday, January 18th. That game will tip off at 2:00 PM.
