Ankeny, IA - The Eagles scored three times in the first seven minutes of play this past Saturday en route to a 7-3 win over visiting region opponent North Central University. Faith moves to 2-1-1 on the year with the win.
Evelyn Holbert opened things up for Faith in a big way, chipping a ball over the Rams keeper just 49 seconds into the match. Two minutes later the combination of Brenna Penrod (goal) and Emma Boldt (assist) would quickly put the Eagles up 2-0. Penrod and Boldt would combine again five minutes later in a similar fashion, and the game was already out of reach for the visiting Rams. Holbert would net her second goal of the match in the 16th minute. Coach Barron rotated players through for the rest of the half and Faith carried a 4-0 lead into the break.
Barron continued to give everyone a chance to play in the final 45 minutes. North Central found some holes in the back of the Eagle defense but never threatened. Faith netted three more goals in the second half, with Kayla Stephens notching one and Emma Boldt adding two. Faith outshot the Rams 24-15, with 19 of the Eagles shots on frame.
Faith returns to action on Thursday, September 14 when they will travel to region opponent Spurgeon College for a 1 PM kick-off in Kansas City.
