Eagles Grounded by Rolling Thunder
ANKENY, Iowa—A rolling Thunder team from Manhattan Christian College brought the Eagles back to earth on Saturday by the score of 91-74, just one day after Faith was soaring from its best game and best win of the season over second-ranked Barclay.
Manhattan Christian College has won nine straight games, two of those coming against the Faith Eagles in the last five days. Neither game was close, though Saturday's 17-point loss was a slight improvement over Thursday's 26-point defeat.
The Thunder scorched the nets at a blistering rate of 58.3% for the game (14-29 from three point distance). Faith's only lead was in the first two minutes of the game, and its largest deficit was 24.
Jayce Goergen continued his fine play for the Eagles, scoring 20 points. Kalab Sidlinger added 18, and Jared Pearson added 17 as the only Eagle players in double figures. Brendan Pearson's first collegiate three-pointer and Joshua Forgie's two free-throws off the bench were both highlights for Faith's student section.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 7-8 on the season. The schedule doesn't get any easier with a road test against #5 Kansas Christian at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
