Eagles Rattled by Thunder
ANKENY, Iowa—A storm rolled into Ankeny from the west last night, as the Manhattan Christian Thunder came into town and rattled the foundations of the Eagles' defense with a potent and efficient offensive attack. The Thunder struck early and often, building an 18-point halftime lead that Faith was never able to recover from.
Faith struggled to get good looks on the offensive end, especially in the first half, as Manhattan's guards used their quickness and physicality to disrupt the Eagles' half-court offense. The Thunder's effort on defense forced Faith into 12 turnovers in the first half and held the Eagles to 33% shooting.
The Eagles did a much better job of protecting the basketball in the second half, but were never able to make up any ground as the Thunder's offense really got going, connecting on 57% of its shots in the final 20 minutes, winning by a final score of 92-66.
Faith had three players who scored in double figures, led by Jayce Goergen with 17, Kalab Sidlinger with 16, and Christian Brown, who had a career-high of 13 points.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 6-7. Faith hosts two more games this weekend, beginning with #2 Barclay at 8 p.m. Friday night in the Nettleton Center.
