Eagles End Five Game Skid
DUBUQUE, Iowa—The Faith Eagles men's basketball team ended a five-game losing streak Tuesday night with a road win at Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque. Faith never trailed in the 90-76 win.
The game was tight for most of the first half and as close as two points with 49 seconds remaining, but the Eagles ended the half on a 5-2 run to take a five-point lead into the locker room. The freshmen tandem of Carson Odle and Jared Pearson paced the scoring in the first half for Faith, with both of them scoring 10 points.
Emmaus cut the lead to one with 17:01 remaining in the second half, but that was as close as they would get as Faith steadily built its lead to as many as 15 points. Nearly all of Faith's scoring came from its starters, which accounted for 86 of the 90 points. Jared Pearson led the way with 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting (3-4 from three), followed by Jayce Goergen with 20, Carson Odle with 18, Jason Conable with 14, Noah Boyer with 11, and Christian Brown with 4.
The Eagles continued their hot shooting, connecting on better than 50% of their shot attempts for the second consecutive game. They did a much better job of protecting the basketball, committing just 10 turnovers, and outrebounded Emmaus, 42-27, despite a small lineup.
Faith returns to action this Friday and Saturday at home. Friday's game is against Calvary at 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's contest is against Ozark Christian College at 3 p.m.
