Banged Up Eagles Fall to #7 Grace University
The Eagle men travelled to Omaha, NE, this past Tuesday to take on 7th ranked Grace University. Despite being shorthanded, the Eagles battled hard the entire game in a very physical match up. Faith fell by a final of 56-83, but the final score was not indicitave of how the game went.
Faith held a 10-9 lead with five minutes gone in the first half, but a Grace run of 12-0 put the host up by 11. Faith would not go away though, pulling within one, 26-27, with three minutes to play. Out of a timeout, Grace used an 8-1 run off of three Faith turnovers over the final three minutes to pull ahead by eight, 35-27, at the half. Grace maintained that lead over the first eight minutes of the second half, leading 42-37 with just under 12 minutes to play. The Eagles then went cold offensively, as Grace strung together a 20-4 run over the next four and a half minutes to blow the game open. Already shorthanded and facing a string of four games in five days with the conference tournament coming up, the Eagles cleared the bench for the final eight minutes of the game. The bench did a great job of battling over the final eight minutes, matching Grace's intensity on both ends of the court.
Faith was led in scoring by Cooper Rodman, who came off the bench to score 15 points, including 3/4 from behind the arc. Jon Luke Talton added 11 points and led the team in rebounding with eight, while Timothy O'Tool and John Acree each had 10 points.
Faith travels to Moberly, MO for the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament, hosted by Central Christian College of the Bible this Thursday through Saturday. Faith is the #2 seed, and will face Calvary Bible College at 4 PM on Thursday.
