Eagle Men Make it Five in a Row
The Eagle men grabbed their fifth win in a row this past Friday night as they defeated visiting Emmaus Bible College 93-72. The Eagles improved to 10-6 on the year with the win.
The Eagles opened the game with a 12-0 run in the first four and a half minutes, and led 20-9 with thirteen minutes left to play in the half. Emmaus then put together a 6-1 run to pull within six, but the Eagles answered with back to back threes to push the lead back to double digits. Faith pushed the lead to 15 with a few seconds left in the half, but a three before the buzzer sounded cut the Eagle lead to 12, 47-35 at the break.
Emmaus opened the second half with two quick baskets to pull within eight, but Faith quickly answered again to push the lead back to double digits. The Eagles used a 9-0 run to take a 17 point lead, eventually leading by as much as 22 over the final 10 minutes of the game. The Eagles bench was able to fend off a run by Emmaus in the final four minutes that briefly pulled the visitors within 12, but a 10-1 run over the final two and a half minutes gave the Eagles the 21 point victory.
Aaron Leistikow and Timothy O'Tool both recorded double doubles for the Eagles. Leistikow finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while O'Tool added 10 each. Cody Chaffin led the Eagles in scoring with 27 points, 22 of which came in the first half. Jon Luke Talton scored 17 points while handing out six assits and grabbing four steals. John Acree gave the Eagles a nice spark off the bench, scoring 17 points.
Faith hits the road next week, with a Tuesday game in Lincoln, NE, against host Union College. That game will tip at 7:00 PM.
