
Eagles Lose in Straight Sets to Emmaus
DUBUQUE, Iowa--The women's volleyball team played a difficult game against Emmaus on Tuesday, losing three sets to none. Although the Faith Eagles have had a difficult season, they have continued to have good attitudes and play their best.
In the first match, the girls lost by just three points. An attack by Emmy Caves got the girls to a tie at 9-9. They remained within two points of their opposing team until Emmaus drew away with an ace, winning the set at 25-22.
The second set started off with a great kill by Makenna Laib, earning them the first point. Emmaus won the next point, putting the game into an early tie. Both teams played well, keeping the game close until Emmaus started pulling away at 12-11. The Faith Eagles won five more volleys before they lost the second set at 25-16.
The third and final match was the hardest for the Faith Eagles. Tough server, Paulina Velderrain, won Emmaus 7 consecutive points putting the score at 14-6. The Faith Eagles fought hard for a comeback but lost the third set at 25-18.
The Faith Eagles will be traveling to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to play against Mount Mary University at 3:00 p.m. on October 18. At 5:00 p.m. the same day, they will be playing against Holy Family College.
