Eagles Overpowered by Warriors
FOREST CITY, Iowa—One look at an opponents' roster can sometimes tell you all you need to know.
The Faith Eagles continued their early-season stretch of difficult opponents Monday night with a road match against Waldorf (6-6), who was playing on its home court for the first time this season. Waldorf's roster includes seven players that are six feet tall or more, who overpowered the Eagles all night on the front line, tallying 38 kills.
Set one
The Eagles fell into an early hole as Waldorf established a 7-0 lead. Waldorf scored 11 of its 25 points off of kills with a 25-5 win in the first set.
Set two
Faith regrouped and settled into a much more competitive groove in set two, keeping the score as close as 24-17 before a service ace by the Warriors closed out the set. The Eagles had several bright spots in the set with kills from Bekah Smith, Alicia Smith, Anissa Greiner, and Amanda Larson, who also had a service ace in the set.
Set three
Waldorf jumped to a 10-4 lead and steadily grew that margin throughout the set with a score of 25-11. The 38 kills by the Warriors were the second-most allowed by the Eagles this season.
