Track & Field Finishes Well at Grandview
(Des Moines, IA) - Faith Track & Field finished another historic regular season on Friday with three more nationals qualifiers, three event wins, and a few more season highs.
Faith stayed "home" for one final meet as they competed in the Grandview Viking Classic on Friday, making one final push in a season to be proud of. The Eagles took time during the meet to celebrate 4th year senior Sadie Long, who has done a little bit of everything for the program throughout her time competing.
Sadie kicked off the day in exciting fashion as she tied her own program record in the high jump at 1.48m, qualifying for Nationals in the process. Sierra Pearson punched her ticket next, beating the qualifying mark by 0.01 seconds in the 100m hurdles and joining Hannah Wernli as the second Eagle to qualify in that event. Codie Wirges broke 10.00m for the first time in her career in the triple jump, and then outjumped herself 4 attempts later, setting the new program/personal record of 10.07m. Eli Boatman finished the day with the last qualifying mark as he threw his personal best in discus by almost 2m.
The Eagles addes three more event wins with Annika Bauer (400m), Becca Hulinsky (Steeplechase), and a come-from-behind victory from the women's 4x400 team consisting of Annika Bauer, Carlie Blevins, Becca Hulinsky, and Lydia Mueller.
