Eagles Finish First Half of the Outdoor Season
(Decorah, IA) - Three more records fell last weekend as the Eagles competed in the Norse Invitational.
Faith Track & Field kept their momentum rolling through week three of the outdoor season as they hit the halfway point with just three regular season meets remaining before the NCCAA National Championships.
Hannah Wernli was the lone representative for the Eagles at the Wartburg Select, where she competed in the Heptathlon over the course of two days. On Friday, Wernli completed the 100m hurdles, 200m dash, high jump, and shot put and came out of the day with a score of 1834 points. Hannah finished the event on Saturday with the 800m run, long jump, and javelin, and put up a second day of solid showings to walk out of the meet with a score of 2685 points. With her performance, Hannah set a PR and now holds the program record for the Heptathlon (Previous record: 2669/Sadie Long)
On Saturday, more of the team traveled to Decorah, IA to take part in the Norse Invitational hosted by Luther College. Carlie Blevins ran her 1500m race in 5:02.85, breaking the program record she had set two weeks prior, and Cade Cooper made history of his own in the Long jump as he set a program record and qualified for Nationals with a mark of 6.49m.
Luke Akins had back to back outstanding weeks on the field as he set a new personal best in shot put, and Becca Hulinsky came two seconds shy of the school record in the 5000m run. The Eagles had a smaller group travel to participate in the Norse Invite, but that group put together 9 individual top ten finishes in 15 events, led by Cade Cooper with a first place finish in the long jump.
