
Eagles Track & Field Shows Out at the DeBacker Invitational
(Cedar Rapids, IA) - The Faith Eagles continued to impress over the weekend, adding two more Nationals qualifications and another event win at the DeBacker Invitational
The Eagles sent a full squad to Cedar Rapids to compete at the Mount Mercy DeBacker Invitational and had a great showing all around for the day. The Eagles saw 14 personal records set between 13 individuals, including 3 more program records.
Becca Hulinsky followed the previous weekend's steeplechase performace by cutting almost 40 seconds off of her time, and setting a program record and qualifying for Nationals at the same time. Katie Costello PR'd for the second week in a row in shot put, breaking the program record she set the previous week, and Carlie Blevins led the 800m run for the first 700 meters before dropping to 3rd place as she set a program record and qualified for nationals, coming close to adding an event win to the list.
On the men's side, Cade Cooper won the long jump event for the second time this season with a mark of 6.33m, while Jermaine Boyd placed 5th in the same event, and the "Throw Bros" (Eli Boatman, Luke Akins) set three personal records in the discus and shot put.
Five Eagles have now reached the qualifying mark to participate in six separate events at Nationals with one meet left in the regular season.
