Ankeny, IA - The Eagles hosted the Rams from North Central University in front of a large Saturday afternoon crowd. While the weather was a beautiful 75 degrees and cloudy, the result for the Eagles was not so enjoyable.
The game began with two quick goals in the 13th and 27th minute from the Rams' star forward, Elliott Lebsack (first goal assisted by Lars Brekhusout). The Eagles responded with a goal of their own by midfielder Grant Busenitz in the 34th minute. The Rams were able to hold back the Eagles' late first-half push and went into halftime leading 2-1.
While the first half was close, the Rams never looked back in the second half. In the second half, the Rams scored three goals (all unassisted). Alex Chacich scored 2 goals and Elliot Lebsack had another goal of his own to complete the hat trick. The Rams had 22 shots to the Eagles' 12 and 8 corners to the Eagles' 2. Because of the back line's solid defense and Lebsack's spectacular plays, the Rams won 5-1 and handed the Eagles their only loss of the season
The Eagles are looking to bounce back and find their first victory of the season as they are back in action on Monday where they will travel for an away contest at Union College (Nebraska). The game will kick off at 4:30 pm CDT.
