MANHATTAN, Kansas—The postseason officially began for the Faith Eagles men's soccer team on Friday with a conference championship loss to Manhattan Christian. The Eagles fell by the score of 4-0 to a Thunder team that has accounted for nearly half of the Eagles' losses this season (three).
The Eagles advanced directly to the conference championship game after their first round opponent decided not to participate in the conference tournament. Faith struggled from the get-go as Manhattan Christian struck quickly for a 1-0 lead in the first two minutes. The Eagles' defense held their ground as long as they could, but the Thunder dominated possession of the ball, scoring four times off of 34 shots in the game. Faith was only able to manage four shots in 90 minutes.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 2-8-1, but the Eagles can now wipe the slates clean as the regionals take place Thursday and Friday in Watertown, Wisconsin. Faith will play two games—one against Maranatha on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., and one on Friday afternoon against Moody Bible Institute, also at 2 p.m. The Eagles have played two evenly-matched games against the Sabercats, losing the first one in the last 30 seconds of action, and tying Maranatha two weeks ago. Faith has not played Moody this season. If the Eagles win both games, they will advance to the national tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.
