ANKENY, Iowa—Facing a Manhattan Christian team that was coming off a 16-goal performance against Barclay and averaging seven goals per game, the Eagles' defense held its own for the majority of the 90 minutes on Monday. In the end the Eagles were unable to get on the scoreboard and fell by the score of 4-0, falling to 1-4 on the season.

Manhattan used a combination of speed and superb ball-handling skills to put consistent pressure on Faith, who did a great job of cutting off attack lanes and fast breaks. After giving up an early goal at the 7:41 mark, the Eagles kept the Thunder off the board for a solid 31 minutes, and just missed multiple opportunities to tie the game on the offensive end. Manhattan scored again at the 38-minute mark and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was a near replica of the first, with a quick goal in the first five minutes of action, followed by another 21-minute scoreless streak by the Eagles before the Thunder struck for their fourth goal of the game. Manhattan dominated possession in the second half, limiting Faith's opportunities on the offensive end. The Eagles managed just six shots on goal—most of those coming in the first half.

It's an exhausting time for Faith, who is in the middle of a "four games in seven days" stretch. The Eagles face the University of Northwestern (MN) in their last home game of the year on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Ankeny. Northwestern is 2-4 and is coming off a 5-0 loss to Viterbo. Faith finishes the week with a Friday match at Manhattan Christian at 7 p.m.
