LACROSSE, Wisconsin—Faith's defense held its own for 45 minutes in the season opener against a talented Viterbo squad, allowing just two goals in the first half. That was the lone highlight in an 8-0 loss in which the Eagles managed just one shot on offense, compared to Viterbo's 33.
Andrew Weddle scored a hat trick for Viterbo, including both scores against the Eagles in the first half, with the first one coming at the 15:32 mark and the second one coming at 36:38.
Viterbo dominated control of the ball and had the Eagles' defense tired and on its heels the entire second half as they struck for six more goals in the final 45 minutes. All 19 players saw action for Faith.
The Eagles games against Central Christian College have both been canceled. The next game for the men will be the first home matches of the season on back-to-back days during Faith's Homecoming on Friday, September 18, and Saturday, September 19.
