Men’s Team Qualifies for Nationals for First Time in School History!
It was rainy and windy in Ottumwa Friday night at the Indian Hills Invitational XC Meet, but the temperature was perfect for racing!
The women's race started at 4 p.m., and the ladies took off on the hilly course. Caressa Kluver led the way for the women, completing the 5K course in 24:08. Jeannie Wilkinson and MaryAnn Hendrickson rounded out the Eagle women runners in 28:53 and 31:47 respectively. Valerie Busenitz was fighting shin and calf muscle pain, so Coach Long decided to scratch her out of the event to give her more time to heal.
This race was the first time that all five of the men were able to run in a meet together. The men all set PRs, and for the first time, the Faith men's cross country team qualified for Nationals as a team! David Loveall finished the 8K course in 29:24, Conrad Lobb in 30:00, Jeremy Kamberger in 31:12, Andrew Hackley in 37:22, and Ben Hackley in 37:37.
Despite the difficult race conditions, everyone ran exceedingly well. Please pray for healing for those on the team with muscle injuries. The team is looking forward to competing this Saturday, October 22, at the NCCAA Regional Meet at home on Faith's campus. The women's race is at 11 a.m. and the men's race is at noon. We would love to have as many spectators there as possible, so please come cheer on the team!
