Volleyball Claims 2023 Region Championship
Lady Eagles will head to Joplin, MO to compete in the 2023 NCCAA II Women's Volleyball National Championship.

Ankeny, IA - The Eagles volleyball team defended their #1 seeding Thursday night, as they defeated #2 North Central University to claim the 2023 regional championship. The win places the Eagles in the field of eight at the NCCAA National Tournament which will take place next week in Joplin, MO.
A raucous crowd filled the Nettleton Center Thursday night as the Eagles took the court for the opportunity to claim another regional title. Set one found Faith in a tight battle with the Rams, but Faith would prevail with a 25-23 set one victory. North Central reset the match at one set apiece in the second set, as they pulled out a tight 25-23 victory. With the match tied at one apiece, the Eagles and their fan base found some momentum in set three. Faith jumped out early and never looked back, taking set three 25-18 and moved one set away from the win. The Eagles would maintain that momentum into set four as they jumped on NCU early. The Rams could not stem the tide and all the Eagles had to do was finish out the set. There were some nervous moments late in the match with Faith holding a 24-17 lead. North Central scored five unanswered to pull within two at 24-22, but Faith found the final point on a kill from Codie Wirges, and the players and fans erupted with joy.
Senior Rachel Forgie, who earlier in the day was named the region Player of the Year, led the Eagles with 22 kills in the match. Wirges added 18 of her own, along with 28 digs and 3 service aces.
Faith will head to Joplin, MO on Monday to begin taking part in the week-long National Tournament festivities. The 2023 NCCAA II Women's Volleyball Tournament will take place at Ozark Christian College. The tournament will consist of two pools, Pool A and Pool B, with a total of eight teams. A packet detailing the pool play tournament can be found here. The Eagles will compete in Pool B. All games will be live streamed on the NCCAA network for a fee.
