
Eagles Open With Road Victory Over Union
Eagles start strong in season opener against Union College.
Lincoln, NE - The Eagles came out swinging Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep against the Warriors. Faith won the match in straight sets, dominating sets one and three with 25-13 and 25-10 scores while eking out a 25-23 set two win.
Soaring through the first set 25-13, the Eagles seemed unstoppable, but going into the second set the Eagles struggled to find their footing. Trailing the Warriors 6-2 at the start, they knew they needed to turn it up a notch. Coming out of a time-out, Faith closed the gap to 15-14 but was not able to grab the lead entirely. Continuing to fight, the Eagles flipped the scores for the first time and took the lead 19-18. It was a back-and-forth battle to the end of the set, but the Eagles were able to secure the set 25-23. The third set came easy to the Eagles as they finished off the sweep 25-10.
Senior Rachel Forgie paced the team with 12 kills and freshman Codie Wirges was right behind with 6 kills and 3 aces. Reagan McPeek played and notched 24 assists and 3 aces. Madelyn Hodak had 14 digs on the night. The Eagles had 15 more kills and 20 more digs than the Warriors.
