Faith drops to 4-2-0 on the year with the loss. Despite being heavily outshot 38-5, the Eagles' defense kept them in the game thanks to an impressive goalkeeping duo. Megan Yuan and Kyla Rounds combined for 15 saves, limiting the damage from Illinois' persistent attack.
Faith's lone goal came in the 19th minute from Eliana Fritz, who scored unassisted to put the Eagles on the board. However, Illinois College's relentless pressure proved too much as they found the back of the net three times to secure the victory.
The Eagles' defense was tested throughout the match, but Yuan and Rounds' efforts in goal kept Faith competitive despite the disparity in shots. The team fought hard to create opportunities but struggled to break through Illinois College's strong defense.
Faith will look to rebound in their next match as they host Dakota County Technical College on Monday, September 23, at 4 p.m. on Pyche Field. The Eagles aim to bounce back from this tough loss and continue building on their strong start to the season.
