Eagles Continue Upward Climb
By Jon Crossman
DUBUQUE, Iowa—After a 3-5 start to the season, the Lady Eagles have turned in the right direction and never looked back with a dominant 8-1 run over their last nine games.
Their latest addition to a four game winning streak comes with another double-digit win over Emmaus Bible College, a team that is still trying to find some solid ground with a 0-15 start to their season. The Eagles took advantage of their big presence down low for 26 points in the paint. Another helping hand for the Eagles came through turnovers, where they found themselves on the right side of the narrative with 23 points off turnovers. Faith kept the momentum up all the way to the final buzzer, never allowing any lead changes and cruising to a 51-32 victory in the Tuesday night bout.
Leading the Eagles in scoring were the two offensive pillars for the team, Mikayla Jones and Rachel Kleczka, with Jones notching 12 points and a game-high 6 assists and Kleczka following up with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Belle Wirges crashed the boards for her own spot on the scoreboard, putting up a season-high 11 points, one of those shots coming as a perfect three-pointer from deep. Whitney Wacker stayed ready on the other end, posting the only 2 blocks for the Eagles and pulling down 5 rebounds of her own.
The Eagles meet their next conference rival at home, playing Central Christian College of the Bible on Friday, January 27. The ladies will meet the Saints starting at 5:30 p.m.
