Eagles Enter Post-Thanksgiving Play at 2-2
By Jon Crossman
PLYMOUTH, Minnesota—The Lady Eagles basketball team emerged from Thanksgiving break with a balanced record, defeating Free Lutheran Bible College last Monday for their second twenty-point victory of the season.
The Eagles had one of their better shooting games of the season, splashing the nets at a 45% clip with perfect free throw shooting from three different Eagles. Defense was on a whole new level for Faith, with the ladies committing only six personal fouls throughout the whole game, only one of which was a shooting foul. The lock-down defense kept Free Lutheran sharpshooters to just one three-point play and a 43-24 rebound differential.
Mikayla Jones continued to display her arsenal of skills on the court, taking it to the rim for 19 points and boxing out the opposition for a team-high eight defensive rebounds. Rachel Kleczka followed up with another double-double, tallying exactly ten points and rebounds apiece. Kleczka gave a proper Thanksgiving stuffing on several occasions, putting up her most prominent block in the final minutes of the first quarter. Three other Eagles contributed poignantly to the 23-point victory, with Tina Harms (8), Faith Clark (6) and Grace Bolyard (6) each stepping up to deliver over 50% shooting.
The Eagles have lots of time to work off the turkey dinner before their next game, coming off the break with a full week of practice leading up to a Saturday game. Their opponent, the Pilots of Providence University College, have four games between the bout with a current 3-6 season record. The game will take place in Dubuque, Iowa, starting at 12 p.m. on December 3.
