
Eagles Excel at the 2024 Track and Field Championship
Columbia, SC - Eagles compete well at the NCCAA Track and Field Championship.
Day one was sunny with a high of 95. The heptathlon athletes Mercedez Long and Hannah Wernli competed in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m run. Both Mercedez and Hannah set PR's in multiple events.
Hannah also ran the 100m hurdles and broke the school record running a time of 17.54!!
Day two of the national meet was delayed with rain and thunderstorms. That did not stop the Eagles from performing at their best. Mercedez Long and Hannah Wernli finished off their heptathlon events with long jump, javelin, and the 800m run. Mercedez broke the Faith record in the javelin (previously set by herself) throwing 27.95m!! Mercedez also established a new school record for the heptathlon with a score of 2669.
The final day was a beautiful and sunny day! The Eagles competed in the 4x100m relay and the triple jump. Codie Wirges jumped for the Eagles, and Mercedez Long, Hannah Wernli, Belle Wirges, and Codie Wirges ran the 4x100m relay. Eagles broke the previous 4x100 Faith record, running a 54.78!
