It was a cool, crisp morning Saturday when the gun went off for start of the women's race at the National CC Meet in Houghton, NY. It had snowed lightly the night before and the snow-capped mountains surrounding the course at Houghton College were beautiful. The course was a little softer than we would have liked, but most of the rain from the days leading up to Saturday had drained away.
Freshman Wendy Busenitz led the way for the women's team, finishing in the top ten with a ninth place finish! She ran very well despite a calf muscle strain that had appeared earlier in the week, completing the course in a time of 20:36. Senior Laura Beth Yuhnke also ran well, finishing in a time of 25:16 in 37th place.
Sophomore Dewey Rapson came in 12th with a season best 29:54! Freshman Corbin Evans also ran a season personal best of 33:24, finishing in 35th place for the men. Both of the men were still fighting colds and coughing challenges that had been lingering for the past few weeks, but that didn't keep them from running strong!
The entire team gave it their all and competed for the glory of God. It was fun to be able to see them and cheer them on as they ran hard! It was also nice to have several family members make the long trip (longer for some than others!) to see them give it their best.
Thank you to each one of you who have faithfully prayed for us throughout the season...to God be the glory, great things He hath done!
