God provided a perfect day for running on Saturday at the Dan Huston Invitational in Waverly, Iowa, hosted by Wartburg College. It was sunny and cool with a light breeze...and the cross country course was firm and in great condition. There were over 100 runners competing in each race, and the Faith CC team ran well.
The Faith women were led by freshman
Wendy Busenitz who finished 23rd in the 6K race with a time of 25:03, averaging
6:43 per mile. Senior Laura Beth Yuhnke ran the course in 30:48, averaging
8:15 per mile. We had one runner compete for the Faith men, as freshman
Corbin Evans was recovering from the flu. Sophomore
Dewey Rapson raced for the men, completing the 8K course in 31:00, averaging
6:14 per mile. All ran hard and gave God the glory for the chance to run and use their abilities for His honor. God is good.
Please continue to pray that our bodies would hold up over the course of the next 6 weeks remaining in the season. Practices and meets are demanding and we have some nagging knee and foot injuries that are causing some pain while running. We have two more regular season meets, one on 10/16 in Dubuque, IA, and one on 10/31 in Joplin, MO. After that we will have two weeks to finalize preparations for the National meet in Houghton, NY. Thank you for praying!
