Eagles Win Big at Home Against Emmaus
ANKENY, Iowa – The Eagles improved to a dozen wins on their season last Tuesday, taking down Emmaus Bible College handily in three sets. The twelfth win marks the final midweek home game for the Faith ladies, with the weekend double-headers on October 22nd and 23rd being the last matches for the Eagles on their home court.
The outcome of the game would have been hard to predict in the first minutes of the game, with Emmaus stunning Faith's starters off the bat for an early 3-point lead. From there, the ladies found some solid ground, thanks in part to a brilliant 8-point serving streak from Morgan Stephens. Faith stayed on top of its game for the rest of the set to allow Emmaus only four more points in a 25-16 victory. The second set swung wildly in the favor of the Faith ladies, with yet another serving string from Makenna Laib to assemble a comfortable seven-point lead throughout. The final stretch for the ladies bore much of the same promise from the second set, with another early lead from Rachel Kleczka's five kills keeping any hope submerged for Emmaus. Michala Standley also had herself a game for the Eagles, adding seven of her own serves in the final 25-11 set victory, four of which were service aces. Her serving abilities have proven to be a valuable asset for the ladies' offense, with her showing up big in recent high-pressure games.
The Eagles go head-to-head against Barclay College on Friday, October 22, starting at 5 p.m.
