Eagles Sweep Centennial Weekend

ANKENY, Iowa – The jubilant events of Faith's centennial celebration were accented perfectly by the success of the ladies over the weekend, with a spotless record in two well-attended home games. The two wins add to their growing win streak, with a four-game streak getting brighter in the light of an approaching slate of home games.

The first game of the weekend was a fierce rematch against the Ambassadors of Ozark, who proved a formidable foe in the 3-0 loss they handed the Eagles earlier in the season. The energy flipped this time around, with the Eagles taking advantage of the home crowd to fuel their efforts against the visiting defense. Amanda Larson and Rachel Kleczka each got two crippling blocks apiece in the game, discouraging the front row efforts of the Ambassadors and allowing easy points for the Eagles from attack errors on the other end of the court. Emma Owens continued her valuable performance for the Eagles, executing 18 kills on 38 total attempts. Ozark found a silver lining in the third set thanks to an unfortunate string of attack errors by Faith, but eventually fell in the fourth for a 3-1 Eagles victory.

Spurred on by their earlier adrenaline from Friday night's game, the Eagles drew a similar outcome against the Warriors of Calvary University. The first two sets remained close enough between the teams, until the Eagles locked it all in for a dominating third set win. Sierra Udd masterfully served five straight for an early 9-3 lead in the third, and Audrey Holbert put the game away with a few aces and four kills of her own against the opposing team. The Eagles held Calvary off of any late-game momentum to secure a commanding 3-0 win.

The Eagles defend their win streak against Emmaus Bible College on October 12, starting at 6:00 PM in the Nettleton gym.
